The hybrid floating raft system is another grow bed design used in aquaponics. Plants are grown suspended from the raft above the water with their roots below the raft. Plants receive nourishment, and roots are aerated through the water. This sweet basil is one of a variety of herbs grown at Megan's Gardens using this system.

MILWAUKEE (January 29, 2014)  AT&T and the NEA Foundation are teaming up to increase low-income students interest in STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education by supporting Milwaukee Public Schools Urban Schools Aquaponics initiative through a two-year contribution that  includes $98,000 that will directly impact the program.

The goal: provide more students with the skills and knowledge they’ll need for 21st century jobs and develop curriculum and instructional content that educators can use to build similar programs nationwide.

Prescott man opens aquaponics business

PRESCOTT--Aquaponics? What the heck is aquaponics?

It’s a question Tim Doose has to have answered more than once as the Prescott man opened Doose Aquaponics this month in the former Prescott Greenhouse building on Hampshire Street.

The Salvation Army announced their Red Kettle Christmas Campaign raised nearly $3.6 million over the holidays, exceeding its 2013 goal by nearly $100,000. The money raised will finance services throughout the year ensuring critical needs of the unemployed, underemployed and homeless in Wisconsin.
Milwaukee Public Schools' have received new funding from the NEA Foundation and AT&T which will allow its Urban Schools Aquaponics initiative to expand into five new schools, reaching 1,500 MPS students over the next two years. The contribution will help increase low-income students' interest in STEM education. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Aquaponics is a highly efficient and sustainable form of farming in which water from aquatic animals is used to feed hydroponically grown plants.
